Southold Township has over 160 miles of shoreline and close to fifty major creeks, ponds and inlets; this shoreline, both public and privately owned is a major asset to Southold.

In 2007, a group of waterfront property owners believed it was time to provide a forum for discussion of waterfront issues, to have a voice in regulations affecting waterfront property and share information with others including the Town Trustees and other regulatory agencies.

The group originally a Yahoo discussion group and called the Waterfront Property Owners Conservancy Association (WPOCA) quickly grew, organized and provided the genesis for SoutholdVOICE, a recognized as a 501(c)3 organization.

SoutholdVOICE is now acknowledged as a major voice in the conversation, and has become an influential resource as THE ORGANIZATION to address all types of issues affecting shoreline and marine resources, regulatory provisions/changes, and the riparian rights of owners.
